You may have already met her and have already asked God for a word if you should pursue her or not or you may have no idea who she might be now. Either way, praying for your future wife is a must. For all we know, she might not be saved yet and is needing someone to intercede for her in prayer as God do the mighty work in her life. Regardless of what season you and she may be in, it is very important to pray about this aspect of your life, giving it to God knowing that He knows a whole lot more than we do.
Seek God first
One of the jokes I always hear about praying for the next season is “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you and… He may also Include a wife as well.” This joke would run on and really make people laugh but kidding aside, Matthew 6:33 is a life verse that everyone should really hold on to.
Seeking God sincerely and wholeheartedly should be on the top on your list so that He will reveal and guide you to the right path.
Grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus first
It is important that we grow deeper in love with Jesus, making Him your first love. The Bible says, “We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19).” We grow more in love with Jesus when we spend quality time knowing Him more in word, prayer and worship.
Pursue purity and pray for maturity and equipping
Purity honors God while maturity makes it easier for us to handle committed relationships. Allow God to work with your heart and do some pruning. When you allow God to prune you, He also allows you to grow including the area of relationships.
Be financially stable
Growing emotionally and spiritually is as important as becoming financially stablity. It’s a sign of maturity. “But if any man does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (1 Timothy 5:8). God has assigned men to be leaders and providers.
As stated in CBMW.org, “Whatever a man thinks he is “called” to, this much is clear – he is called to provide for his family. One of the most God-glorifying pictures of the gospel is when a man puts his childhood dreams to the side, steps up to the plate, gets a job, and valiantly cares for his family. This man should be honored and his work should be appreciated.”
Trust God’s timing
Time is of the essence. Give everything time. Allow God to work on His own timetable and not yours. The bible says that God makes everything beautiful in its time. (see, Ecclesiastes 3:11) So, if she still isn’t around yet, wait for it. It will be worth it.
