More than 26 people were killed and 20 people were injured after a gunman suddenly opened fire in First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas at around 11:30 in the morning.

Later on, the suspect was identified. He was Devin Patrick Kelley, 26-year-old, a former member of the U.S. Air Force. According to witnesses reported by CNN, he was first seen at a gas station near the First Baptist Church. After firing, he immediately exited the church but a local citizen grabbed his rifle gun causing Kelley to flee away as he was being chased by law enforcement. The suspect was then found dead after crashing his vehicle during the chase.

Pastor Frank Pomeroy, the one who is pastoring the First Baptist Church, was in Oklahoma when the shooting incident happened. He told ABC News that his daughter was also killed in this tragic event and many were his close friends too.

Pastor Pomeroy’s wife, Sherri Newman, posted a photo of her daughter hours after she was identified as one of the victims who was killed.

The church’s mission on Facebook says that they seek to “honor and glorify God by: Studying His word, sharing His gospel, praying for His guidance, and doing His will not ours.”

Because of the horrific incident, a small group of people were seen outside the church holding hands and saying prayers for the victims right after the mass shooting took place.

A certain Max Massey posted a video on twitter of people praying to God in tears.

In a moment of silence, please take the time right now to pray for the victims and their families. Pray for God’s peace and comfort to engulf their hearts in the midst of this tragedy in Texas Church.
