A Hindu man has greatly persecuted his whole family after learning that they have left behind Hinduism and followed Christianity. According to reports, Hindu father Ramesh Kumar from Northern India beat up his wife and his four children for their refusal to denounce Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Aside from that, he also threw them out to the streets
British Pakistani Christian Association (BPCA) also stated that Ramesh put an advertisement in a local newspaper telling every reader that the community should not offer or provide help to his family. His reason is simply because he did not want them to attend a Christian church.
“If you did not stop going to church. I will drive you out from the house and file an [apostasy] case against you all since you have changed your religion,” Ramesh said, according to the family’s account.
Earlier this year, the patriarch cut off his provision for the family. His oldest son, Neeraj, 23, took over the responsibility of feeding and giving the basic needs of his 3 siblings and mother with his very little income. However, they faced another challenge when Ramesh went to his son’s employer and convinced him to fire his son.
Aside from that, Ramesh also came up with fake stories to the local police station to put his family into more trouble. He wanted to get the attention of radical Hindus. The family was questioned in the police station for false accusations. And though they defended themselves, nobody believed them.
“The disownment of his children by a patriarch has left this family very vulnerable. They have been targeted by a father who is caught up in the religious zeal that has become more commonplace in India since the Modi regime came into power,” said Wilson Chowdhry, chairman of the British Asian Association.
But despite of all that has happened to them, the family’s response is strong. “We will not stop going to the Church because we know Jesus is the True God who died for us.” Nobody has helped the family except for one pastor who took them to a house for rent. He also gave away some of his stuff, which he also needs in his own home but sacrificed willingly anyway.
