Justin Bieber’s Pastor, Carl Lentz of Hillsong Church in New York City sparked a big controversy among the media and the Christian community after giving his comments about abortion during his appearance on “The View”.
Lentz’s statement came after he was asked by co-host Joy Behar, “So, it’s not a sin in your church to have an abortion?” where he didn’t answer the host’s query directly.
Later on, he defended his statement through his post on Twitter, clarifying to everyone that he does indeed believe that “abortion is sinful.”

“I do believe abortion is sinful,” Lentz said in his post on Twitter.
He cleared up that he had many reasons for responding that way to the interview and that he has a deeper goal behind this issue of abortion. That is to help and love people who are dealing with pain or regret from personal choices instead of casting shame and guilt on those individuals.
“That’s the kind of conversation we would have, finding out your story, where you’re from, what you believe. I mean, God’s the judge. People have to live with their own convictions,” Lentz said.
Then Behar asked, “So, it’s not an open and shut case with you?” Lentz again hedged, responding, “Some people would say it is. … I’m trying to teach people who Jesus is first, find out their story. Before I start picking and choosing what I think is sin in your life, I’d like to know your name.”
