When approaching the LGBT community, we first have to remember that they are not our enemy. They are our friends and they are also created in the image and likeness of God just like us. That is why putting up a banner of hate against them is never the answer. Remember that it is sin that we should hate and not the sinner. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). How should we approach them then?
God’s love. As humans, we are incapable of giving unconditional love on our own. We need to tap on to the source–the One who can give relentless love regardless of flaws and mistakes.
With love, we show the LGBT community, that truly, love wins because God is love. Our calling is not to condemn but to share to them the message of hope and love through the Gospel. Our job is not to change them because we can never change people, only God can do that. Our calling is simply to love them and reveal the truth to them until God touches their hearts and powerfully transforms them.
